Man what I wouldnt give to have a dts file converter.
I know the answer to this, but I'll ask anyway.

1. what would this "converter" do?
2. why would you need such a converter?

I found some dts files (bunkers/huts/platforms etc) for T2 that are available for use. (Permission from the authors). I would like to use them in a map I'm doing. Since they were made for T2, they reference T2 textures. Which would need replacing. At this point it seems that once a model becomes a dts, it is all but 'gone'. That is cant be edited etc. Perhaps if it could be converted to say a 3ds maybe, it could be edited in milkshape and the textures could be replaced. I'm not interested in stealing Sierra's textures. :)

yes a dts importer would help ALOT i have ALOT to learn about torque models and the best way i learn is reference :) . ive heard its impossible, can anyone tell me why? if you can export you should be able to import, it dont make sense, if the engine can render the model and read it then why cant 3ds max ?

because the models are compiled like code, code can be decompiled but you lose clarity in the process.
there are .max files of some of the T2 models - player, guns, packs, vehicles.

I think you are lying quite frankly. If the authors 'gave' you permission to use the model then why wouldnt they give you the original? Stop trying to steal someone else's hard work.

================================================== ==============
-- Description --
================================================== ==============
This is collection of 5 bunkers for Star Wolf (Ice). They were
created by me. And are based off of the original design/concept
by Akira (he does REALLY GOOD WORK!).
================================================== ==============
-- Installation and Usage --
================================================== ==============
Anyone may use these bunkers. Simply place this .vl2 in your
"base" directory. They will be available in the editor, in the
"StarWolf->bunkers" folder. If you do not want to use this .vl2,
extract it to your "base" folder and the .dif files will be put
into the "interiors" folder. If you use any of these bunkers in
a map, extract the ones that you use from this .vl2 before you release/ship. Make sure to include the .dif file of the bunker(s)
that you used with your .vl2. You may also mention me (and Akira)
in your readme file.

I do not have the current e-mail of Akira (sorry). But if you
search the forums at www.tribes2maps.com, you can find several
e-mails to try if you need to contact him.

still doesn't say you can use them in a totally different game from T2.
Akira would let probably let you, heck he'd probably come back and make maps for legends! - but there is a point.
